REPRESENTATIVES from a select group of Northern Ireland businesses, including Castledawson's own Robert Ditty, got the privilege of meeting the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this Tuesday (May 19), during a specialty food event in Belfast.
Their Royal Highnesses, Charles and Camilla arrived in Northern Ireland and in a busy day of engagements met with Robert Ditty, owner of Ditty's Bakeries in Castledawson and Magherafelt.
Mr Ditty spoke exclusively to the Northern Constitution about this great honour and explained that it was actually his second meeting with His Royal Highness saying, "To meet him once is something most people will never experience, but to meet, and speak with him twice is more than anyone could ever expect in a lifetime, it's surreal."
The pair first met about four years ago when the Prince made a visit to Castledawson, stopping at Ditty's bakery to sample the great local breads, and to chat with Robert, which resulted in the Prince inviting the local baker, any many of his South Derry farmer friends, to High Grove, an opportunity Robert jumped at and greatly thanked Charles for.
